Surgery news

Unfortunately due to a delivery issue the Practice has not yet received any flu vaccines for patients aged under 65 years.  Therefore we have had to cancel the clinics for patients in this age range. As soon as we receive a confirmed delivery date we will rearrange the clinics.

The dates and times shown on our home page for patients aged 65 years and over are correct as at 27 September 2019.

Dr Bayles will be retiring from the practice as of 10th September 2019. We wish her all the best for the future and thank her for the 6 years dedication to the practice.........We would like to welcome Dr H Cho as our new GP to Old Town Surgery. Patients of Dr Bayles will automatically be transferred to Dr Cho's care. Dr Cho has spent a year at our Little Common Surgery finalising his training as a General Practitioner and we are very lucky that he has chosen to remain at the practice.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.00
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
  • 3-month PPC: £29.10

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
